Federer – Nadal, the Spaniard: I never imagined I would be in another final
Australian Open, Grand Slam-the first year of the approaching end. Finals are played today and tomorrow’s men and women, with a speciality.
Venus and Serena Williams, one 36 and the other 35 years, Federer and Nadal, one 35 and the other over 30s. It is the first time in the history of modern tennis to four finalists of a Grand Slam tournament to be all over 30 years!
Two semifinals of men had the same score, 3-2, but yesterday’s between Rafa Nadal’s and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov has been very special. A five hours match, exhausting, with two sets to set the tiebreak. See the result in favor of Nadal’s how close it was: 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, 6-7, 6-4! Phenomenal!
And to think that the two finalists from a year filled with injuries, with long periods without playing, the rejuvenation of the physical form!
“I never dreamed I would be in another final, I’m so lucky!”
Are the words of Rafa Nadal’s, who returned to play at a high level after a long time.
Nadal and Federer will meet for the 22nd time in a tennis final. The Spaniard is ahead with 14 showdown won, but that, ultimately, will have little impact in the final. Both have won the Australian Open trophy’s, but unlike Federer’s, Nadal has only once made his own.
And, finally, truly champion Nadal told: “It will be very special for both return here. I’m happy for myself, I am equally happy for him too!
